How to get here

The airport or Costa Rica is in Alajuela, west of San José (the capital)
It is 270 kms from Alajuela to Puerto Viejo. The journey takes four hours.

To go to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca (also called Puerto Viejo de Limòn),
you can:

Come by door to door shuttle: Several companies offer scheduled fleets of minibus transportation which will pickup you up at most major hotels in San Jose (or the airport) or other locations and bring you to Blue Conga in Puerto Viejo. To see schedules, fares and to make a reservation, click here.

If the shuttle schedules don't work for you, you could hire a private minivan to drive you. If you're arriving in the afternoon and don't want to spend the first night in San Jose, we recommend this as the shuttle schedules leave too late and driving yourself on unfamiliar Costa Rica roads at night is not recommended. The above link will show you all the possible options to get here.
